Summary
The first time he met Marco Bodt, Jean Kirschstein thought he was meeting a prophet.
You couldn’t blame him- not really. Marco radiated warmth. Comfort. His smile was brighter and more pure than any halo, his eyes were a sweet puppydog chocolate brown that could make your insides melt. His skin was the color of pine cones and acorns and Hazel Fay flowers in window boxes and ochre red clay deposits in local rivers, peppered with summer tanned stars we call “freckles”. His little longer pieces of just barely red toned black hair would sway at the front when he got excited and moved too much, like the mommy curl every newborn mother had in every film where she held her child for the first time. His voice was not as deep or as rich as his strong jawline and broad shoulders suggested, nor as scholarly or varied as the part of his hair and the clever quirk of his brow hinted- but it was full, it was familial, it was light and high like music and as comforting as a warm hand in a snowy wilderness.
This is the story of how Marco convinced him he was real.

Summary
Jean and Eren aren't exactly criminals, although there's a handful of IT and Business Affairs detectives scattered around the Upper Midwest who might take issue with the statement. They've just got...certain skills, that lend themselves well to certain tasks. Like finding out just HOW good that new security system your bank paid 50 grand for is. Making that pesky little indiscretion immortalized on the hard drive of a security camera just...not be there anymore. Taking payment in cash and not asking too many questions.
And then there's the new guy.
Marco's got a lot of skills, and some of them are pretty hard to nail down. But there's no denying he's a damn good actor...

Summary
There are three kinds of people in the world: ordinary, extraordinary, and statistically improbable. Marco Bodt is one of the unlucky average joes, doomed to a long life of normalcy and predictability. At least, until a wild thing hurricanes into his life, someone who's easily a member of the third category in every way.
Marco's life won't ever be the same, certainly not after Eren leaves it standing on its head.
