Summary
Three hundred years had passed since her husband was sealed away. Three hundred years of running their court on her own. She was a patient being, more than capable of waiting for the opportunity to bring him back. Until that day though, there was work to do. Enemies that needed to be watched and taken care of, both outside and within.
She didn't have time to waste. Sacrifices had to be made. Red Son was an independent child, from the moment he began to look after himself he'd proven as much. He didn't want to or need to be coddled. He was a bright child, he understood where his mothers priorities had to go, even if those words were never said. They didn't need to be, he was fine on his own.
He was born with the Samadhi Fire, a living vessel for raw power. Understood the magic and machines on a fundamental level and how to bring them together under his command. He was supposed to be the living embodiment of strength and intellect.
So why was he on the floor?
Why was he getting worse?
Why was he growing weaker by the day?
Why was that wretched monkey hell-bent on destroying her family?

Is a question the eerily loomed within the Monkey King's head. How had his once best friend come to hate him so? A thought that had wretched its head up during their latest shouting match, one that made Wukong push the other for answers. A single word- one sentence that changed everything for the two.
