    Summary

"Is it really that bad if I love him too?" Mydei asked, his chest too tight and full of something unspoken that it hurt.

    Phainon blinked once.

"Yes," that's all he blurted out.

OR: the world is saved, nothing bad is about to happen; Mydei thinks it's a miracle that Phainon has his happy ending. They have their happily ever after—isn't it sweet? The problem is, Khaslana is there, alive and breathing. Apparently, he did nothing to deserve his happy ending.

    Summary

Her eyes fixated on Mydei with a kind of burning intensity that was half-flattering, half-unnerving.

Was this…how sapphics were flirting these days? Because if the stranger wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, Mydei would’ve already called security.

“I didn’t get your name the other day, gorgeous.”

Mydei almost inhaled her own spit.

Mydei develops a weird creature problem. Or maybe just a situationship problem.
Which is the same thing, really.

    Summary

The whole world was nothing but darkness and pain but, somehow, he knew of these things from beyond it.

“Mydeimos,” the thin one said again.

    Mydeimos. That high, firm voice.

    Mydei. That low, soft voice.

These five knew something. Knew him or those voices.

So he gave them those two words burrowed somewhere deeper than his mind or body. Aedes Elysiae.

When Mydei finally emerges from the Sea of Souls after nine harsh winters, the most precious thing in the world to him isn’t his name, his body or his life. But two words he can’t remember the origin of: Aedes Elysiae.

As the years pass in exile, he finds himself plagued by knowledge that comes from the same maybe-past or maybe-future that wasn’t quite Mydei’s and yet was.

It took four years for him to stumble across Aedes Elysiae, a boy that calls the place home, and why those words were engraved upon his soul.

“Tell me,” Anaxa continues, “in your mind, what lies beyond the sky?”
“Tomorrow,” Phainon answers without thinking and golden eyes bear down onto him. Anaxa shifts beside him.
“The new dawn,” Phainon continues, even though he realises he’s not making coherent sense, “deliverance.”

In the next cycle, the title of world-bearing falls onto someone else and in the absence of this duty, Phainon wonders where he fits.

    Summary

Kaveh meets Al-Haitham again in Lambad’s Tavern—homeless, moraless, jobless with a dendro vision cinched to his waist to prove it.

For lack of better words, Al-Haitham is shorter than he remembers.

“Archons,” he breathes, looking him up and down. “What happened to you?”

“I should be asking you that question,” Al-Haitham says, dry.

“No. No, you really shouldn’t,” Kaveh says, shaking his head.

    Al-Haitham snorts.

Al-Haitham gives Kaveh an ultimatum he is desperate to change.
