Summary
It’s always the creaking.
It’s the slow, quiet groan of the bed frame as a body shifts; the sharper, quicker squeak as a pointy elbow hits a spring too close to the surface of the mattress. Then there’s the rustling– a sheet, the quilt, George’s pyjamas. Fred is sure that George doesn’t want to be caught, but he’s relying on Fred being asleep and his relatively quiet noises.
Fred isn’t asleep, though. He never is on these nights.
George has a habit of masturbating in their shared room. Fred has a habit of listening.
