Simon was back on the football field, and that immediately felt like a bad idea.
He knew as soon as he stumbled onto the turf that he would fumble for his phone and call the one person he shouldn’t at some point that evening, but he was in denial just enough to take the pill anyway and let himself drift off. It was New Years’ Eve, and he was alone.
