Harvey was staring at him as Mike passed the finish line first. There was something in Harvey’s eyes, something about his own pride and ego at that moment, that just accepted whatever praise was directed his way. After all, he had just made it onto the podium for Canada for the first time since the sport opened in 1996.
Mike let himself forget about the brief moment Harvey seemed genuinely angry at him in the water, and he let Harvey tug his arm. The sudden increase of physical touch was new, but when they’ve just earned a gold medal and a silver medal for Canada and the United States, respectively? It was Harvey’s moment too.

Sometimes, if Loki sat real still and focused on nothing but the feeling of the occasional winds brushing past his whitened knuckles, he could hear the voices and see the bright flashes of a glorious lifetime.
He had already done a sufficient amount of crying when he first sat down and watched as Mobius put his hands on his hips like he always did. The first few tears leaked in grief, watching the wind blow the hairs of Mobius's mustache gently, as the man pursed his lips in unwanting acceptance. The rest naturally followed.
