Okay, so, look. Bernard probably should have messaged Tim to let him know that he was coming over. But in his defence, he hadn’t been expecting to bump into Batman and his entire fucking team upon unlocking and opening the door to Tim’s flat.
He blinked. Blinked again.
He closed the door.
Opened it again. Rubbed his eyes just to make sure.

The point was, in the aftermath, Bruce put a hand on Superman’s chest, looked up at him and said, “Did the sun come out, or did you just smile at me?” And Clark, because apparently he's an idiot who still isn't immune to Bruce’s eyes after months of dating, got tongue-tied and blurted out, “We’re in Metropolis, Mr. Wayne. It's probably the sun.”

He has Batman’s heartbeat memorized. It’s a few ticks slower than everyone else. It’s calming, and it’s something Clark listens to more than he should. Far more. When they’re next to each other. When they’re fighting together. When Clark is lying in bed at night, anxious without reason, he closes his eyes and listens for that familiar drum beat. He doesn’t track it, doesn’t listen for how far it is or where it’s located. He can’t risk accidentally revealing Batman’s identity. He just listens. It’s like a strange sort of lullaby, and it works every time.
It's a dependency, he knows.

Summary
Clark had some sort of possessiveness that extended far beyond a human’s. It was a juxtaposition of his superhero personality—that underneath his suit, cape, and glasses, was a man that held such desires that even Bruce hasn’t chipped away at its surface yet.
Bruce never said anything about it—never brought it up, never discussed how these behaviors could easily cross the line—because maybe it was a certain greed he had that made his heart beat a tick faster. How he got the world’s indestructible man to his knees wrapped around his finger and listened to every beck and call.
Or, 5 times + 1 where Clark’s possessiveness got to him (not that Bruce is complaining about it).
