Summary
Shinjurou Rengoku is being haunted by a ghost. He wanted to believe that those cold, blue eyes he had seen for the first time nights ago were just hallucinations stemming from his uncontrollable alcohol addiction.
However, everything indicates that there is a Yūrei tormenting him, and it was starting to drive Shinjurou mad.

He’d taken off his scarf and bundled it into a makeshift pillow, but the entirety of his braid was left exposed and had amassed an impressive amount of grass blades.”
When Xiao finds Aether having succumbed to a nap on the Liyue plains, and Paimon shortly following suit, he decides to watch over the sleepy pair as they rest. After waking, Xiao offers to pick out the grass from Aether’s braid, to no objection from The Traveler.

Summary
After his sister Lumine, his only kin, the person who he wanted to turn the world for, willingly left Aether behind, for things he didn't even understand, ... something snapped within him. Did all his efforts mean nothing? Did all that pain and torment mean nothing to her? He had to deal with everyone's problems, and to be left still holding his own, the thought just broke him down further. It resulting in Aether spiraling down, breaking anything in his way, including his own being. He couldn't take it anymore, being used like that for everyone, but him to have any benefit in the end. It left him in his most vulnerable state, leaving for the only person he could trust to try and piece the man that was once capable of holding his own, and was now a crying and bloody mess.
