She nods helpfully. The reporter next to her is frowning at her, his recorder dangling loosely in his hand. He looks as confused as Viktor feels. Given that Viktor is currently wearing Yuuri’s ID badge in addition to his own, it’s not an unreasonable expression.
‘Well…’ Viktor drawls, rocking back on his heels to keep his legs warm as he thinks. ‘Really, it’s all about communication.’

There was a fairly sizable line for the register, five or six people all with their wallets out, and he joined the end of it. There was, thankfully, a food display, and Yuuri narrowed his eyes at a butter croissant. Flaky pastry, you will be mine.
The line grew shorter by one or two people, and Yuuri was close enough to the register to hear the interactions between the barista and the customers. “What are you asking Santa for for Christmas?” the barista asked.
He had a nice voice, Yuuri reflected; kind of deep, and mildly accented. It was almost enough to counter Yuuri’s annoyance at the assumption that everyone celebrated Christmas.
“A million dollars,” the customer said.
The barista laughed. “Good choice!”
