Summary
In a world where the Qishan Wen Sect has tyrannical influence, Wei Wuxian witnesses Lan Wanji being kidnapped during a conference talk. Not wanting to get anyone else involved, he goes to rescue Lan Wanji on his own. Together on the run, they make up a plan to infiltrate the nightless city capitol and get justice for all those who were wronged by those Wen dogs. Or because i suck at summaries: angry boys overthrow the government (subject to change)
This story takes place 3 years after the Wen sect destroys Lotus Pier, except Jiang Cheng and his siblings are not on the run so they were instead able wlto rebuild Lotus Pier.

Lan Wangji is staring at him with shockingly alert eyes.
“Ah. Burger Man,” he says stoically. Wei Wuxian has a really hard time telling if the man is serious or fucking with him. But given that he has never seen the man being anything other than serious, he assumes that he’s probably drunk.
“Yeah, I’m the Burger Man. And you’re Lan Wangji. Do you normally spend your Friday nights sitting on the street like this?” he asks.
Lan Wangji looks around, as if he had not been aware they were on a street in the middle of the city. Had he blacked out? How much had he drunk? Was he on any drugs? There was no real way for Wei Wuxian to know.
“Do not,” Lan Wangji finally responds, frowning at the pavement like it’s its fault that he’s sitting on it.
Or, Wei Wuxian is slightly obsessed with the Hot Customer at work. After running into him on a night out, and consequently figuring out he has a kid, he somehow talks himself into getting to babysit said kid. So what if he starts crushing on this man who is obviously taken? Wei Wuxian has everything under control.

“I fit stuff to the measurements Huaisang gave me,” Wei Wuxian says, sorting through the array of dark, elaborate outfits that will no doubt cover less of Lan Zhan than they appear. Wei Wuxian hums to himself, his eyes flitting up and down like he’s trying to judge exactly what he should select.
“You have an aura, kinda,” Wei Wuxian says. He doesn’t offer any explanation as to what that means. Finally, he selects something from the rack, cradling it over one arm and turning around to face Lan Zhan. He frowns, biting the corner of his lip briefly. “Um, Huaisang told you all the stuff we had in mind for this, right?” He asks, his apparent confidence undercut for the first time. “I mean like, the rope stuff.”
“Yes,” Lan Zhan says, his tone giving nothing away. “I was informed.”
“So… that’s still okay?” Wei Wuxian asks. When Lan Zhan nods he breathes out a sigh of relief.

Wen Qing's hand halts from caressing his hair. She gives the man a nod, "Of course you can. You need sleep anyways, Wuxian. You've not rested enough." She feels relieved that Wei Wuxian is finally going to sleep after many sleepless nights but then Wei Wuxian shakes his head. "Qing-jie, I want to sleep forever."
Wen Qing knew there's something wrong with Wei Wuxian way before he made his wishes known, but nothing could've prepared her, not her medical skills, not her steady mind, nor her firm heart, when she saw Wei Wuxian dead on the ground.

AU that takes place after Jin Zixuan's death.
The whole cultivation world either assumes Wei Wuxian to be dead or plans to make it that way. A secret plan put into place by Wen Qing and Lan Wanji after the death of Jin Zixuan is the only way to keep Wei Wuxian from the slaughter of the remaining sects. Lan Wangji hides an unwilling Wei Wuxian with him in Cloud Recesses to save his life. No escape, just Wei Wuxian confined to Lan Wangji's living quarters.
TLDR: Lan Wangji does, in a way, get Wei Wuxian to come back to Gusu with him. The only problem is Wei Wuxian doesn't know about it until he's locked in.
