Summary
Everything after that was blurr, just a man in a lab coat standing over him, the guards shouting, red lights flashing as a siren blared, and distant gunfire. The whole time his own voice rang in his ears repeating over and over again those damn words he always fell back to, outdated now but tumbling out of his mouth all the same.
Then a shadow that moved through the room, dark and silent as death itself, and his bonds were gone. He could remember the touch of a leather glove to his face, sweeping back the hair from his forehead, pulling him from the depths of his panic, but it was gone by the time he came back to himself fully. His restraints were gone. The operatives in the bunker were all dead. His gear on the table against the wall had his comm on the very top, a distress signal blinking red against the darkened room.

Summary
In which Victor did not abandon his Creature, though he was not always kind nor patient, and discovers obsession's softer side on the banks of a tree-lined stream.
The Creature hummed a resonant note that collared Victor’s neck, his throat, compelling his head to turn. Faded from his hearing, it held him still, immobile, left him with no recourse but to watch the winged blades of his Creature’s shoulders flex beneath the linen clinging to the long taper of his back as he gathered bread studded with salt and rosemary, apples with skins that shone like pigeon blood rubies.
“Obscene,” Victor mouthed the word, denying it volume, for it was directed not at his Creature, but at his own inability to look away from him, as though Victor’s hands did not already have exquisite, intimate knowledge of the musculature now under the scope of his stare.

Summary
Elizabeth convinces William that the imprisonment of the Creature is inhumane, and that they must take him and leave at once. William is not altogether sold on the idea of having a seven-foot-tall living corpse on his grounds, but has always found Elizabeth difficult to refuse. A brief examination over the first six months of the Creature's life as William's nephew: his first days, the discovery of his name, and Victor's sudden arrival to reclaim his creation.
