The issue is that Edgar Allan Poe doesn't have the best relationships of any kind, and at some point, he has no kind of relationship whatsoever. He's unhappy and slowly becomes an addict of mostly anything you could be an addict to -- cigarettes, drugs, women, you name it. But that all changes when a major change is made in his life against his will.

    They also say that love and hate are two very close emotions. If you don't have a bit of both, you have none. And that's another issue. Yet this new issue gives him the chance to be finally happy; and he wants to be happy so bad that he gets a new addiction.

    There is this certain someone who gives Poe something worth living for.

    But at what cost?
