Shane straightened instinctively. He and Ilya were both sponsored by CCM, they had been for years. Would CCM pull their sponsorships now that they were publicly out? Would they only want to keep working with one of them now that they were married and would be playing on the Centaurs together this season?
“They want you two for a new ad campaign,” she continued, eyes sparkling. “A twelve-year retrospective referencing the one you shot together the summer before your rookie year.”

But then Rumi tangles a hand in black hair and he falls silent. Nothing but a gasp as fingers furl and unfurl around soft locks. Tugging ever so slightly, a little out of fondness, a little out of frustration. I love you, whispered in the way she trails kisses along the slope of his jaw.
“Then take me like you hate me,” she offers. So easily, so casually like she’s made for it. For him. “Like you hate this. All of this. Would that help? Would you finally have me then?”

He is sitting on my couch.
In my apartment (well, our apartment, that I share it with my favorite demon hunting girls). Wearing one of my hoodies—inside out, like who does that, stupid 400-year old demons might?—and chewing gum like nothing happened.
Like he didn’t vanish six months ago in a blaze of cursed fire right before my eyes. Like I didn’t watch him sacrificing himself into the line of that deadly force from Gwi-ma, just to save me.
No! Somehow all of that seems like a different timeline as he just casually sits there.
Jinu is… alive?

Or let’s say Rumi didn’t handle the time after Jinu’s death so well, and suddenly the cheeky bastard is just sitting there on her couch. And let’s see how the story plays out from there. ;)
