Mikasa acaba de quedar viuda. Días después de encontrar el cuerpo sin vida de su esposo, ya llegado el funeral llega un viejo amigo de su difunto cónyuge, diciéndole que hace semanas recibió una carta por parte de este, con instrucciones de abrir un sobre fechado en el día que murió, dejando un encargo, una llave e instrucciones vagas. Este amigo quiere ayudar a la reciente viuda que fue su amor de juventud, quien es acusada de homicidio a su esposo.

Summary
Mikasa hasn’t seen Jean since the first anniversary of the Rumbling for a gala Queen Historia held. Grieving after the loss of Eren she unexpectedly reconnects with Jean as they talk through their haunted past and try to heal. Their relationship quickly develops and the night before Jean leaves for Marley he confesses to Mikasa and they share a night of passion. The pair promise to wait for each other and write letters but after Mikasa tells Jean in a letter that she is pregnant he never responds.
In the three years since Mikasa’s seen him last she’s been raising the child she thinks he doesn’t want while in hiding from Yeagerists seeking revenge on the woman that killed their saviour.
Jean arrives with the others in Paradis to find Mikasa with a child he never expected and thinks she moved on. Tensions are high as the group struggle to defeat the threat the Yeagerists pose and Jean realises he cannot put aside his feelings for Mikasa even if she’s moved on. Mikasa realises Jean doesn’t know he’s the father of her child and she intends to keep it that’s way.But secrets have a way of coming out and the truth lies in the letters Jean never received and in the golden hazel eyes of his two year old daughter.

—Eren... lo siento tanto— respondió, sollozante. Lo había echado mucho de menos; quería ver su rostro, rodearle con sus brazos y apretarse contra su pecho, pero sabia que, si se volvía, Eren se habría marchado. Estaba soñando. Estaba sola. Estaba sola y perdida.
«Perdida por haber tomado la decisión incorrecta— murmuró la voz en su cabeza tan tenue como el viento—.Sola porque mataste a quien amabas».
—Tenía que hacerlo, o todos habríamos muerto—. Mikasa aún veía el rastro de cadáveres que se habían acumulado durante el retumbar. No era una escena que quisiera volver a presenciar.— Tenía que detenerlo.
«Y lo conseguiste, pero ¿a qué costo?»
Lo único que quería era regresar a su hogar. Estaba cansada. Estaba hastiada de las guerras. Quería descansar, reír, plantar flores y verlas crecer.

She has not seen Jean Kirstein in years, she doesn’t know him any longer. Not like she used to when she would hold his hand through the woods that surround her parents’ farm. They were just kids so close to adolescence but not quite, still young and innocent, without a worry or care. Jean would blush every time she held his hand, pretending to look away with a disgruntled expression. His cheeks ruddy and knuckles scraped from fighting, but he never complained when it came to her, to Mikasa Ackerman.
