“No!” She stopped in her walk, whirling on Grime with enough force that anyone else would’ve backed away. “I don’t care. It’s too much of a risk.”
“And knowing what the alternative is?” He snarled back, puffing up his throat in what she thought was supposed to be a threatening display.
“The alternative,” Sasha's voice edged on shrill, “is about the same as the outcome of the cure. I’ve known Anne since we were Tadpoles! Tadpoles, Grime! We learned how to tie our frogdamn shoes together, how the fuck do you think losing all of my memories of her would affect me?!”
Grime’s jaw clicked shut.
