Alternate Universe
Cat Grant, a renowned ceramist, has agreed to teach a 10-week summer intensive at a Manhattan art school as a favor to a friend. Six of her seven students are absolutely what she expected to encounter. The seventh, though, is a mystery Cat does and doesn't want to solve. Besides, bigger things are on the horizon. She needs to focus.
Kara Danvers, a non-traditional student and watercolor artist, throws caution and half of her meager savings to the wind to take a summer intensive course with an artist she has admired for a long time. The problem? She can paint, she can sculpt, heck, she can even fly! But she cannot throw pottery. Something about it doesn't click for her, but she can't figure out what. Why did she take this class? She's just wasting Cat Grant's time. Doesn't she have enough problems trying to raise an alien teenager on her own? She needs to focus.
Meanwhile, the (alternate) universe has other plans...

Set after At Sea.
It's been a few months since Cat and Kara admitted their attraction to one another at an all-female sex club visited regularly by Cat (Ondine). They are discovering what it's like to be together in the real world and find themselves navigating the mundane snags in any relationship: hurt feelings, insecurity, trust, and honesty. In the background, Kara is writing an investigative series of articles on Western rape culture.
Bold one evening, she suggests she and Cat should celebrate the publication of the second article at Sea, setting in motion revelations of many kinds.

Alex finds a broken Kara still under the influence of Lane's poisons, but before she can take her to the lab to start some form of treatment, she realizes Lane implanted false memories in Kara's brain, ones that are likely to get someone else killed.
Later, she and her mother figure out a treatment plan, but before she can put it into action, she has to tell someone important that her sister is going to be okay.

Summary
Second in what is now a series! Please read the first in the series if you haven't already. This installment will make little sense, otherwise.
Sam Lane turns out to be the leader of the anti-alien faction that forced Cat Grant and Kara Zor-El to go on the run after an attack on Cat's town car, and he loses his patience with the hunt. Instead, he'll make a deal - the freedom of Carter Grant and Eliza Danvers for Supergirl's surrender. Of course, Kara takes that deal.
In captivity, Lane continues his sordid history of torture via kryptonite with Kara, but the pain she suffers under his thumb pales in comparison to the heartsick guilt and remorse she feels about what happened that night in the hotel with Cat. Between encounters with Lane and his hatred, Kara remembers the four days of silence between Cat and her after that night and how it was finally broken.
