Summary
The first thing he hears are the sobs.It makes Izuku want to turn around and leave, or to rush in and hug his mother, all at once, and either way there's a gnawing abyss of teeth-talons-dread-he'smessedup-he'shurther in his chest, pooling against his spine in grasping fingers (like Shigaraki's-) and freezing him in place. He- he doesn't want to go in.
But his Mama is crying, and Izuku is nothing if not a hero, so he pushes that away (it lingers, aches, writhes-) and moves to unlock the front door, bracing himself for the sight of her tears.
(A now-two-part fic where a Bad Mum Inko can't handle the aftermath of the Sports Festival, and an argument with Izuku leads him to two dads.)

Summary
Izuku knows that he doesn't have the healthiest sense of self-worth. Or the healthiest coping mechanisms. Which is probably why he finds himself staring at the stars, arms against the roof railings, and wondering if he deserves what he has at three in the morning.
Aizawa knows that his Problem Child doesn't have an ounce of self-preservation to balance out his bravery and intelligence. He just didn't know it was this deep-seated. But he'll listen and learn and, with all his might, try to teach this kid that he's worth everything that Aizawa sees in him.
