Colin turns to Pen to see how she feels about the suggestion, but he is startled when he finds her frowning at Eloise.
"It's only for an hour, right?" Eloise adds, nonchalantly.
"One hour too many." Pen grits through her teeth, clearly unamused by Eloise's suggestion, and Eloise turns her head around to assess the situation, making an entire show of it, and when her eyes eventually land on her best friend, a mischievous smirk appears on her face.
"Unless you tell me everything I want to know?" Eloise says cryptically, and it's as if she's trying to persuade Penelope into telling her a secret the others are not privy to.
Penelope does not say anything, she glances at Colin and she's looking as if he can help her decide on the decision she has to make, but he's already looking at her, so she turns back to Eloise just as quickly, and if Colin had not been staring at her like a goddamn creep, trying to figure out what her problem with him was, he would not have noticed the subtle look, but Penelope seems to decide to remain tight lipped and Colin can see that she is adamant that Eloise will never know what Eloise might wish to know.

He knows she is impatient - she keeps sighing and crossing her legs on the sofa next to him - but he doesn’t make a move, not yet. He wants it too, but he also wants to sit in this for a moment longer - his arm around her, some film on that neither of them are really watching. He can smell her shampoo when she rests her head on his shoulder and he lets himself pretend for a moment that this is a normal Sunday afternoon for them. He imagines that maybe they’ve just gotten back from doing their weekly shop, or brunch at Bridgerton house with his family. He imagines that maybe he bought that shampoo for her because he knows how much she likes things that smell like pineapple.
“Colin,” she says eventually, and there is something desperate in her voice, as though she is slightly ashamed about how much she needs this. Colin gets it - sometimes he feels ashamed about all the ways he needs her, too.
She twists to look at him and his resolve breaks.
“Okay,” he says, with a soft smile. “Go get the ears, bun.”
