“But– math?” Even Aventurine doesn’t spend that much time thinking about math, and he spends twelve hours a day staring at financial models.
“Does it not occur to you that it's possible to have more than one interest?”
Aventurine lives the same week on repeat: eighty hours of his soul-sucking high finance job, then two nights of dancing off the stress to the beat of his favorite anonymous DJ. His move into a luxury apartment building brings him next door to Ratio, an esteemed classical composer with a love for piano. Eager to make a good impression, Aventurine keeps his clubbing habit under wraps — but he’s not the only one hiding secrets under strobe lights.

Nico di Angelo is finally back at Olympus Dance Studio after a year away, following a broken leg at regionals last season. Mr. D announces that regionals are coming up again and encourages everyone to find a partner to audition for a duo.
Nico is completely against the idea. After what happened last year, the thought of competing especially with someone else is horrible.
Will Solace is a regular at Olympus. He usually auditions for a solo, but this year he missed the deadline, assuming he could try out for a duo instead. Now he's realizing everyone's already found a partner.
