Hawks grimaces and runs a hand through (his? her? God, this is going to be a long day) his hair. His designer jeans jacket slides off one shoulder, too big on his now-smaller frame. He's wearing civilian clothing, which didn't help with the recognition. "Well, you know. Win some, lose some."

Summary
To say Astarion disliked Raen from the start would be simply untrue.
Truth be told, after settling the whole nautiloid matter by knife point and sharing a smattering of memories via tadpole, Astarion quite liked the prospect of traveling with the man. After explaining their ocular predicament, the Drow had extended an invitation to join his party right there on the beach.
And the Pale Elf had been mildly ecstatic.

Raen is a Drow, and Astarion reads the book by the cover at first glance. He finds out quickly that he is very wrong about most everything concerning Raen.
The Paladin ~might~ have a few more secrets than he does, though.

A retelling for my caked-up paladin/bard Drow who is taller than everyone in the party. He needs to be that big to hold all the love he has for all his companions, along with big strong arms to hug Astarion with. He's a sweet man and he's never done anything wrong and I love him with all my heart. Astarion deserves a very good hero man so here he is.
