Summary
The girl standing in their camp is a ghostly thing. Pale, too pale to be healthy, skin sunken in and scarred. White hair that covers part of her face, and a mask that covers the rest of it. Dark, monochrome clothes that look like a twisted version of an expeditioner's uniform, down to the shredded band wrapped around her arm.
She does not speak. Merely stares at them with a single, colorless eye.
Maelle has seen this girl before, but never outside of her dreams. She's never been awake, and the girl has never, never appeared in front of the others. Or at least, not in a way that they could see.

Summary
You should move. Get up, and dive through the doorway no matter how the floor rises up to stop you. Put your back between Mirabel and the walls collapsing on her, because that’s what your back is for. You can see it in your mind, you can almost feel it in your limbs, but you feel pain more, and the shock of it is holding you frozen.
Luisa has a hard time, and then a better time, and her family is pretty great in spite of everything.
