Summary
“Just one more question, Mr. Rozanov.”
“How were you able to stay focused tonight after learning of your father's passing?”
Ilya stood frozen, eyes glued to the camera. Jaw locked. On the screen, his chest barely moved, each breath turning dangerously shallow.
Shane didn't realize what he was doing until he was already shoving the heavy conference room doors open.
Or: Ilya Rozanov learns of his father's death during a live press conference and has a panic attack. Shane goes to him. In front of everyone.

Summary
The fight on Boxing Day had been explosive and painful. But they'd decided they would make a new plan. One they could both live with.
But the more Shane tried to compromise, all the years of resentment and hiding crowded in at once. He spat an ultimatum across the table. Six months. A year at the absolute most. Or they were done.
“That’s not enough time. A year is… tough, but maybe,” Shane offered carefully. “Eighteen months?”
Ilya’s temper flared.
“I do not want to wait another eighteen fucking months!” The words echoed through the room. “I want to be like Hunter! Go on dates with my boyfriend. Talk about him to people. Not always feel like some awful, shameful secret.”
“You want to talk to people about me?” he asked quietly. His voice sounded so small and fragile and confused. But Ilya was still furious and raw.
“Well I would,” he sneered, “if there was anything about you that was fucking interesting to talk about! It would be nice to not be so fucking bored and miserable!”
As the words left his mouth, he knew he'd gone too far.

Summary
Shane Hollander likes his carefully ordered life, and his work as an escort fits neatly into it, with clear boundaries, expectations, and no romantic uncertainty. Then retired hockey star Ilya Rozanov books him, but not for sex, but simply because he wants someone to talk to. As their appointments begin to feel less like work and more like dates, Shane is forced to confront feelings he never planned for. While Ilya discovers that the companionship he thought he had to pay for might finally be freely given. What begins as an arrangement slowly becomes a relationship built on being known, understood, and chosen exactly as they are.

Summary
In 2003, Shane Hollander is assigned a PenPal, and gains a friend. A friend who smokes, calls him boring, and gives him ridiculous nicknames.
Across the world, Ilya Rozanov practices his English with a curious Canadian boy whose name he can't fucking remember.
Or, before they were Canada's Shane Hollander and Russia's Ilya Rozanov, they were Cat and Elijah. Shane has no reason to suspect his childhood PenPal is his hockey rival, and Ilya has never even considered that the man he's falling for is also the boy he already fell in love with through letters and postcards.
