Up until a couple weeks ago, everything had been normal. They’d been planning zero day together fine, eager even, but over this past fortnight or so, something in Cal had shifted.
It started small. Just a constant want to be around Andre more often. Sleep at his house a couple times a week. Hang out with Mel and Andre when he had free time. But that want had grown to a need. A need to be around Andre, to be in his space, be the centre of his attention.
Then he’d started to notice how he began mirroring the brunette. If Andre wore cargo pants, Cal would wear his the next day. If Andre walked past him in school, Cal would immediately get up to follow him, as if he were some lost puppy hurrying after its owner. He began talking more like Andre, presenting more like Andre, acting more like Andre. It’s like his own person didn’t even exist anymore, he just existed for Andre.
In a way that was true.
