Summary
Tasked with watching out for Ginny after her hellish first year, Fred and George find themselves walking an awkward tightrope. Keeping an eye on her means finding excuses to be outside her classes and dodging increasingly accurate bat-bogey hexes. Not only that, but a stupid joke that fell flat has caught the ire of one Hermione Granger, who would now like nothing more than to remove Fred’s head from his shoulders. To top it all off, the safety of broom cupboards all over the castle has been compromised by the bushy goody-two-shoes using them for Merlin knows what. This was not how Fred expected their OWLs year to pan out.

Summary
The battle in the bowels of the ministry gives Hermione her first taste of war. A taste that almost ends in her death. Retreating to her sleepy commuter town for the summer, she prepares for war whilst keeping an ear to the ground for strange happenings in the muggle world as the Dumbledore asks.
But strange happenings are closer to home than she expects. Beyond the woods near her home, a group of newcomers has moved into the old farmhouse. Their arrival sparks curiosity and conflict, especially their leader who has history with the locals that no one will fully reveal. Hermione brushes off her fascination with the man and the increasing rumours as harmless.

Sometimes your spells will go bad. She knew that.
Luna mounted the thestral to the Department of Mysteries. She put her name down for Dumbledore's Army. When they called her brave she smiled like she knew things that they didn't.
She knew what she was getting into. She knew what she was doing. She drifted because she'd decided to drift, because she thought the best way to live on this earth was to tread softly. No matter how much she liked wrapping herself in whimsy, this was not a whim. It was a choice.
When Harry was grieving Sirius, she took his hand. "Things have a way of coming back to you," she said, with no blankets to hide under, with no skipping rocks to hold in cold hands, to hurl away when they felt like they were holding her down.
Luna had loss living in the pit of her stomach, yes and always, but she was the only one who got to decide what to do with that. She went out to visit the thestrals with strips of steak in her bag and loved the way their sloping wings looked against the sky.
