Summary
Midoriya Izuku just wants to lead a quiet, peaceful life. This is foiled by the fact that a) he can see spirits, b) his good nature demands that he help anyone he sees in trouble, and c) he, by all rights, should not exist.
Helping the heroes who have fallen victim to the new quirk-breaking drug is a terrible idea for many reasons, the first and most important being that he hates attention and avoids it like the plague. But he's the only one who can help, so he does.
This is, Izuku decides as he breaks in, more trouble than it's worth.

Beauregard Lionett is fifteen when she runs away for the last time, fox at her side. She runs until she can't, until her feet are bloodied and her leg is broken and she simply can't imagine moving another step and that's when he finds her.
Fjord is sixteen when he walks out the front door of the orphanage and doesn't turn back. It isn't running, not really; you can't run from people who want you to go, so he leaves, in search of something better.
Jester is sixteen, too, when her mother helps her into a dark hooded cloak and kisses her forehead and tells her to go and she does, slipping past the gates and walks quietly away from home.
Molly is 2 years old when Gustav is arrested for murder. Yasha doesn't know how old she is; birthdays weren't a thing, in her tribe or here. But Molly turns to look at her with wide eyes and asks what to do and the only thing she thinks of is to run.
Nott is 25 years old when she drowns. She's been a goblin for 25 minutes when she decides she wants no part of this and runs.

In their final year of high school, Dib and Zim have just barely figured out how to stay friends for long enough to finish their physics homework together. But when Dib suddenly stops acting like himself, it's up to Zim to try and figure out how to get him back to normal. Purely for rivalry reasons, of course! It's not like he CARES about Dib or anything. That would be stupid ... right?
... Oh. Fuck.
Zim's got secrets and Dib's got a laundry list of issues but together, they might just make one functional person. And they're going to have to figure out how to work together fast if Zim wants to stay on Earth past the end of the week.
UPDATE JULY 8, 2020 -- This fic is not dead!!! It'll be returning in early August with Act 2. Conspiracy theories abound, so please bring your tinfoil hats >:3
