Gustave wasn’t quite sure whether real applied to him and his world anymore - if it ever did to begin with. Not after everything Maelle had told him. The Dessendres, Verso, the canvas, Maelle being a paintress, how him and everyone he’s ever loved were painted (minus Maelle, of course) - it was a lot to process even now, months after Maelle had brought him back. She insisted that this world was just as real as the one she’s actually from, but he still felt as if his entire world view had been shattered and very poorly assembled back together, and that he was simply trying to navigate it without accidentally standing on the sharp edges of the broken pieces.

DISCONTINUED - my hyperfixation on The Owl House ended a long time ago, and I've just been unable to finish this fic since; maybe I'll come back to this one day but for the foreseeable future, I'm marking this fic discontinued. I sincerely apologies to anyone who was reading this.
"Woah!!!" Eda said, running off and up to the top of the hill. Raine ran after her. She laughed and spun around. "Look at this, Raine!"“I know right! This place is beautiful!” Raine exclaimed.
“Not as beautiful as you.” Eda mumbled.
“What was that?” Raine asked, Eda’s face going a bright shade of red.
“Oh, nothing!” She changed the subject fast. “Ooo, what kind of flowers were these again?”

Summary
They were currently leaning against the outside of the nest, sitting on the wooden floor with their scroll in the air. They hadn’t pressed the play button just yet, as they’d only just sat down, but they’d been intending to put on the playlist that Eda had made for them for today. It was titled rhapsodies and requiems and not only did it have an uploaded version of their song (which Eda had kept private so that it could be just for them), but a bunch of pretty cool human songs too. Apparently Luz had shown some of them to her.
They heard the door open, turning to face the love of their life, the one who makes them feel happier than anything else in the world ever could: their wife, Eda Clawthorne.

But of course, gender doesn’t work like that.
You can’t force it to change to make things easier. You can’t pretend it doesn’t exist so that it’ll just go back to how it used to feel. It’s not possible.
It’s a part of who you are, something that cannot be changed by yourself. The only reason it wasn’t hard for her beforehand was because she didn’t know yet. Even then, there were some things that were obvious signs, had she known what they were. Like the confusion around all-boy or all-girl things, like schools, friend groups, boys vs girls teams, etc.
Or, Eda discovers her gender identity, with some help from Raine.

It was about 10 in the morning. Eda and Raine had been relaxing on the sofa when they’d noticed that the kids had all been doodling on little bits of paper that looked like some kinds of plans or lists. Luz and King had coloured pencils and Hunter, who spent half of the time living with Darius and the other half of the time at The Owl House, had highlighters. Hooty had also joined in, using his typewriter. The kids had all been whispering with each other and taking glances back at Raine and Eda. Hooty had seemingly been typing out his responses to questions rather than speaking them. He wasn’t ever that great at whispering when it came to secrets or surprises.
So, curiosity getting the best of her, Eda had asked what the little rascals were planning.

Summary
Eda had been so excited about this grudgby game and, of course, Raine had gone along to show support for the Banshees. It had been going well! Hexside had been winning, with Eda scoring the top amount of goals, and none of the St Epiderm students could keep up! The Banshees had been working incredibly well together, with Darius and Alador focusing on distracting the opponents, Lilith and Perry working very well on passing around and Eda being their main goal shooter.
It had almost been a win for the Banshees. A win for Hexside.
Until, St Epiderm decided to play it rough.

Summary
Being autistic didn’t exactly make social events with lots of loud music and loud students, whether or not you interacted with anyone other than a couple of people, very easy. Raine knew what they’d signed up for, but they couldn’t really care that much when Eda was right there with them, holding their hand, wearing a gorgeous red suit (Raine still blushed slightly every time they looked at her) and smiling widely at them as the couple entered the building.
Or, Raine and Eda go to Grom together, but it doesn't go exactly how they had hoped.

A Saturday morning for Eda Clawthorne usually doesn't start until about 8 in the morning when her sister would force her to get up. She’d then normally proceed to spend the next half an hour still in bed, before getting up, eating breakfast, and spending another two hours on her scroll messaging Raine.
But today, instead of texting Raine, she’d be going out with them.
On a date.
Her first ever date, and it was with her Rainestorm.

Summary
Eda and Raine turned on their microphones that they were wearing and began to talk in turns, introducing the world of the story. It wasn’t long until Eda walked on stage, reaching the centre and facing away from the crowd. Raine copied her as she did so. It was as they walked from the audience’s left of the stage into the middle that Raine had noticed their mums had gotten seats right next to Eda’s parents. They smiled, waiting for the spotlight to shine before turning on their heels in sync with Eda to introduce themselves to the crowd.
From there, it went incredibly well. For a while.
Or, the origins of Raine's stage fright. Based off of the new information that came out on DisneyNOW's Watch and Play for Follies at the Coven Day parade: Raine and Eda once starred in a school play called "Rats!". That play was the origin of Raine's stage fright (though nobody else knows this).

Summary
They tried to listen to whatever the teacher was rambling about, something about wild magic in the savage ages, until they could hear Eda scribbling something else down. Once they heard the paper slide across the desk, they picked it up.
One of our good old pranks might be able to do something. I’m down for any ideas you’ve got.
Raine smirked, a plan already beginning to form in their mind. They tore the rest of their page from their book, grabbing a pencil to make some sketches and the rest of their biro pens for colour-coordination. This was going to be fun.
