    It’s past midnight when Masaru slips into the room, silent and sure. The door clicks shut behind him.

    Even under the faint moonlight, he can see that the room is as it always is, with Katsuki and his meticulous nature. Not a thing out of place. Masaru pauses a moment to take in all the memories that have accumulated over the many years, all the little things Katsuki keeps as tokens, all the things that make up who he is. Posters and knick-knacks and sentimental keepsakes. Masaru’s eyes burn at every reminder of what a tender heart his boy has.

    “Katsuki? Everything okay? You’ve been in there a while, I wanted to check up on you, is all.” Masaru reaches for the shower curtain, but thinks better of it. “You’re sure you’re fine?”

    There’s a pause, then Katsuki replies, softly, “Yeah, ‘m fine.” If Masaru were anyone else, he’d believe him, but he is his father, and he knows best what the subtle inflection in Katsuki's hesitant voice means.

    “Okay,” he says anyway, but slides his shirt over his shoulders and undoes the button of his jeans. His clothing pools on the bathmat in a pile. Pulling the curtain aside, he slips in with enough gap for himself while preventing the hot air from escaping.
