He noticed everything that was different. The fact that Will didn’t reach for a hug like they always did. Deja vu hits Mike and this feel like pay back. The fact that Will didn’t have the same smile he used to reserved for Mike. The smile they met his hazel eyes. They had become strangers.Will looks between Rowie and Mike linking arm, observing quietly.
“This is Carlton, my boyfriend.”–He looks at Mike. “Carls, this is Mike.” Ouch just Mike.
Mike gets a good look at Carlton. Carlton is probably everything Mike is not. Braver, attractive, stronger, and just better. He wonders if Will told him everything about his past. If he could comfort Will from his nightmares. The word settled into the room with an almost physical weight: Crush. So adolescent and harmless.
It sounded absurd in Mina’s pink bedroom, under fairy lights, with Bakugou Katsuki sinking into a beanbag like it had swallowed his spine. The heat under his skin pulsed once, hard, like it had been waiting for that exact moment to reveal itself.
“We’re not saying it’s a bad thing.” Kirishima stepped in. “Just that maybe you don’t have to fight it like it’s a villain. You know?”
Katsuki lifted his head then.

“I …” Mike began but he cut himself of, biting at his thumbnail nervously. He blinked it away trying to think about something else, deciding this wasn’t the time or place. He would just worry about this in his own mind.
“Mike ...” Will said, furrowing his eyebrows over his tired eyes. “What’s up? Are you okay?” Mike laughed a little, his thumb still against his lips. He dropped it, deciding to fiddle with the blanket instead.
“Uh, we … I didn’t like … do anything or-or say anything last night, did I?” Mike asked nervous. Will giggled.
“Uh,” Will said with another short laugh, “I guess you could say that.” He said and he grinned cheekily at Mike, but this was eating him alive.

Mike gets kicked out of his house and moves in with Will before the party goes on a vacation to the beach. he worries that the truth about his feelings towards Will, will find its way out.
Will is worried for that reason also, and is trying to figure out why exactly Mike could have been kicked out, while still comforting his best friend. -

Mike goes quiet, mulling it over. Will braces himself, certain that at any moment now Mike is going to explode on him for even suggesting that he borrow El’s things. But El’s style was far more relaxed than Nancy’s and it seems like an obvious solution to the current problem. “Yeah?” He needs to make sure. Mike looks up at him then, and his eyes are glossy but certain.
“Yeah,” he confirms.
In which a summer bucket list and Will Byers waking up as a girl version of himself finally causes Mike Wheeler to realize his feelings for his best friend. Set post-S5 finale. Summer after graduation.

The suggestion came in loud, cutting his words short as well as grabbing everyone's attention. Although Lucas had just offered something similar, the words didn't seem to hold the same weight coming from Mike. Will's heart picked up as his eyes landed on the boy, who seemed oblivious to the sudden shift in the air. He was met with this familiar gaze — the one that made him feel like he was the only one in the room —, intense, focused, but also incredibly genuine. The others exchanged looks that Will couldn't quite decipher as Mike kept going.
"I mean I'd love to have you there."Or : After graduation, Will is set to spend a pretty lonely summer as his friends all have plans of their own. That is, until Mike suggests they stick together.
