What if... River Cartwright was at the Glasshouse with Spider Webb and Louisa Guy during Season 2, instead of Marcus Longridge?
When Min Harper is killed in a hit and run accident, Jackson Lamb sends River along as his replacement.
James 'Spider' Webb is unimpressed: he's still dealing with the fall out from the last time they met, and frankly, he's got more important things to think about, like getting himself back into Diana Taverner's good books after that whole Hassan Ahmed embarrassment.
For River, the assignment is a chance to once more prove himself a capable agent, get back into Regent's Park, where he belongs.
Of course, this being Slough House, nothing ever goes according to plan...

Chibs is fearless, nothing worries him. Seeing him knocking back whiskey at nine in the morning, his hand shaking around his glass, makes Juice sweat.

Juice remembers the first time they screwed, both drunk off their asses after hours in the club house. He'd taken one final slug of tequila- which really, he should never drink- and just blurted it out. Chibs hadn't laughed at him, though. Hadn't called him queer, or kicked his head in, or told the others. He'd just checked Juice was serious before bending him over the pool table.

Summary
Short summary: This is a story where everyone starts by pushing each other way, and ends up by living happily ever after. It's a story where Loki has to work for his happy ending, because you shouldn't be able to go around calling people "puny mortals" and trying to kill them and such, and then immediately get welcomed back and loved by the Avengers. And Tony has to work for his too, because being rich, talented and charismatic shouldn't automatically get you everything you want.
It's also a story with a major Hulk-rampage in it. But that's not for a while.
