In the center of it all is a man…
A man who is scrambling around a small convection oven on the counter, trying to scrape out the blackened remains of what Hua Cheng assumes were once cookies. He appears to be in his early thirties and, despite his frantic movements and creased expression, the first word that comes to Hua Cheng’s mind is: soft.
His hair, a beautiful, earthy chestnut brown color, is pulled back into a loose bun on the top of his head. A few strands hang free, framing his face. He wears cuffed jeans and a cream-colored turtle-neck sweater that swamps his frame and falls down to his thighs, giving him a cozy, shapeless figure.

Hua Cheng walks over to Xie Lian, whose smile reveals that he already knows what Hua Cheng is going to say. “I’m fine, San Lang,” he assures, reaching out to squeeze Hua Cheng’s arm. “It’s just a headache.”
Hua Cheng is not so easily convinced. “You don’t usually get headaches…?” he murmurs, eye tracing over Xie Lian’s features.
“It’s been a long day,” Xie Lian says with an easy expression and a shrug. “I just over-worked myself. I feel fine.”
Hua Cheng nods and his expression softens as he reaches out, tucking a stray strand of Xie Lian’s hair behind his ear. “You rest. I’ll finish up the kitchen. And make some tea.”
OR: Xie Lian and Guzi both fall ill overnight. Thankfully, Hua Cheng is there to care for them.

Summary
Our tale begins with Xie Lian hiring an escort to help him deal with an “unspeakable affliction” after a disastrous breakup forced him to leave college and return to his hometown.
Hua Cheng (or Wuming, as he is called when we first meet him) isn’t really interested in helping people—he just wants to get paid. If the situation with a client seems too complicated to deal with, he has no problem walking away. But for some reason he can’t explain, he feels compelled to help Xie Lian.
The two find themselves very quickly drawn to one another, but nothing in life is easy, especially when it comes to love.
Xie Lian is struggling to forget about the demise of the relationship that ruined his life—a struggle complicated by the fact that his ex may or may not be stalking him.
Meanwhile, Hua Cheng is busy running from a past that will soon catch up to him with deadly consequences.

Happiness comes in different forms and in different packages, some discover it younger, others when they are adults. It is not exactly necessary a couple to understand something like that, but that little flash of joy and company during the search for something so ephemeral is easier and certainly more frequent. But not everyone always chooses the correct partner.
For Ren Tao love and happiness came together, in a way as strange as it was hypnotic, that made him wish with all his heart that he would never have to let her go.
Yoh Asakura does not think he is so lucky, his childish side prevented him from making a clear decision and happiness seems to slip through his fingers, making him doubt more than once if he had made the right decision.
