Summary
Lance just wanted to prove himself. He wanted to get to the front lines of the war and win it for his planet, wanted to take down the Galra step by step until he was the sole hero of Altea. Instead, he was put on babysitting duty, escorting some useless Galran prisoner back to Altea for interrogation. Veronica told him that Keith could change the entire course of the war in Altea's favor, but Lance just felt ignored and useless.
But on the way home, something changed. A monster, an undiscovered space species, a crash landing on a foreign planet, a barren wasteland that held more evidence of the war than space where it was being fought, an unlikely alliance forged in the most desolate of places.
