Summary
Hundreds of years ago, a lonely god laid a spell upon himself and his friends that they might reincarnate in an eternal banquet. Over and over again, the god and his animal friends reincarnated in a banquet everlasting until the bonds that had once brought joy only brought pain and bound them rather than connected them.
Hundreds of years later, the young Tohru Honda walked into the lives of the Sohma clan and through her influence, broke the curse, ending the cycle and freeing the cursed to live lives without the burden of ancient chains.
This is not her story.
The Taisho Era is just beginning in earnest. Salvation for the cursed is not for another century. Korenosuke Sohma, patriarch of the Sohma Clan and God of the Zodiac, seeks political power. Shinobu Sohma, the Cat, flees his machinations, aided by sympathetic members of the clan in her struggle against the preordained fate of the Cat. Amidst it all, the young man Haruka enters the lives of the Sohmas, his fate intertwined with the Cat's. At the intersection of the three, the lives of those closest to them are drawn together.
What follows is the inevitable.
