But Corazon, or Donquixote Rosinante, whatever the hell he was calling himself nowadays, was doomed to a never ending revolving door of plans not going his way- not to mention accidentally adopting a small army of traumatized kids.
Or, a fix-it fic where the author keeps throwing kids at this poor 10' fire hazard until they all develop a healthier relationship with family, or the ship they're on sinks. Whichever comes first.

“We can help fight!” Shanks stares up at him with wide eyes and, next to him, Buggy folds his arms over his chest and nods his assent. Neither of them look afraid, and that does terrible things to Rayleigh’s chest. “You know we can, old man, we’ve done it before, why are you—““Quiet.” Rayleigh triple checks the knot, as if he needs to, as if it isn’t an anxiety-fed reflex to make his heartbeat slow down. The rope is new, sturdy. It will take a lot to break it.
Fuck, seas and souls, the rope could break. The rope could break, and the ocean will take anyone, will take little red-topped bodies as well as little blue-topped ones, will take any excuse to kill and Buggy can’t swim.
A deadly enemy with a fixation on children is after the Oro Jackson. Roger and Rayleigh will do what they need to in order to keep their cabin boys safe.
