“You okay?” Peter 2 murmurs, face close and mouth quirked in a gentle smile. They’re still standing side by side, arms looped around each other to keep Peter 2 upright. Peter thinks he can see sadness pinching at the corners of his eyes but Peter 2 is always so level-headed and accepting of the twists and turns of each moment, Peter isn’t sure if it’s really sadness or just resignation.Peter continues staring speechlessly at the other man and barely manages a creaky shake of his head. No, no, he’s not.
Peter 2 must see the panic and fear starting to swamp his expression because he puts his right hand over the one Peter has on his side and smooths his palm over the fingers reassuringly. They’re both starting to glow a bit and Peter knows the other man can feel their Spidey Sense starting to flip out.
Words come back to him in the direness of the moment. “I-I don’t want to go back.” He chokes out.
