Summary
It’s something she’s fought desperately to control, to push away, to keep locked up in a box where she doesn't have to think about it anymore. The way she was made, what she was made for, the scars that still remain, the features that cannot be removed. She twists them under fingers to be under her command, for her own use – but the beginning cannot be erased. It will haunt her, as much as Rose does, for the rest of her life.
And is it any little wonder she’s so damn tired of fighting?
Even a loyal soldier must know when they are spent; even the most ambitious of kings must know when their wars are done; even those most dedicated to their faith must admit when there is nothing else they can do – but when will her wars be over? Or will she fight against the same ghosts, over and over again, as if nothing has ever changed? For all her eternity, however long it will last?
When will it be enough? When has it ever been enough? For her? For anyone?
