Vash had tried his very best to hide it.
He had been prepared for it, he knew what it meant, his lack of energy, his irritability, how each and every room in the castle felt stifling despite the waning, icy grip of winter leading to fresh spring. Fitting, that his first heat would bloom in that most verdant of seasons. He cried, because by now his brother would have been told, by now he would be on his way to coo and fawn over his precious baby brother blooming for the first time.

Summary
Legato throws his head back and moans, coming all over his hand. He is panting, mind cloudy after his orgasm, so he only registers his master’s proximity once Knives has a hand on his hair, making Legato look at him. He brushes a thumb over Legato’s cheek, a gesture so delicate that Legato is sure violence is to follow. But all Knives does is stare at him.
“I understand it now,” he says and Legato remembers the first time Knives had him on his knees. It feels both an eternity ago and like it just happened. Now, he waits for his master to tell him to go again, but he adds: “Why humans like beautiful things.”

Summary
The gun swings at him, metal striking across Vash’s face. He falls over to the side, hair flopping into his eyes. The skin is cut, and Vash feels warm blood beading and beginning to drip along his skin. “Stupid, whiny omega.” The heel of a boot presses to the top of his head.
“Please don’t,” Vash gasps.
“Do you ever learn?” The boot vanishes, but it comes sailing back. Vash feels it connect to the back of his head, and he jerks forward. A pounding pain washes over him, the same time as a wet feeling drooling through his hair. Wriggling along the floor, he tries to escape from the next impact, but he only manages to get it in the back. His spine stings as the toe of the boot glances across it. “Just sit there and be quiet. If your weirdo brother shows with the ransom, you’ll get to go home in one piece.” He laughs. “Two pieces.” His foot nudges at Vash’s residual arm.
Shuddering, Vash tries to wriggles his right arm free of the ropes. “You’ll…regret it,” he hisses. “You’ll all regret it.”

“I don’t kill, if that’s what you wanted to ask.” Knives murmurs softly, can’t really find it in himself to feel offended his twin’s counterpart thinks of him in a negative light if his hypothesis about his own counterpart is accurate, and tightens the grip on his hand for a second in silent reassurance that he doesn’t take the unsaid words to heart. He’s been called worse. “Hey, it’s okay. I can practically feel your head overheating.”
Vash seems to shudder in his peripheral vision, expression almost shattered, and it’s too familiar now (he’s seen that particular look too many times when he rejects his twin, over and over-).

“Don’t get us lost, baby brother. Let’s get ourselves a room first, then we can talk, okay?”
