Summary
Living in Shadycreek Run is rough for a kid. Being in the Claret Order is rough for a teenager. Being a mercenary is rough for a young adult.
Honestly, it's just not great being a member of the Tealeaf family. At least they have each other.

Summary
She doesn’t mean to start collecting things at first. It just sort of happens.
A flower that reminds her of Caduceus, a couple of buttons she finds for Nott. Somehow, Yasha finds she has an assortment of candies weighing her pockets, partly from market stalls and the other half from pastry shops they happen to dip into whenever Jester has a craving.
“Why do you always have these on you, Yasha?” Jester asks, munching on a caramel hard candy.
Yasha doesn’t mention the idle curiosity that plagues her in new cities, the meandering thought whenever they’re somewhere new. Would Jester like these? It influences her purchases more than she cares to admit.

Summary
“Why not just use magic?” She blinks at him. “It’s easier. Hurts more and that way you don’t have to get as close. You make it harder for yourself,” Nott explains, clenching and unclenching her hands, “and I don’t understand why.”
He nods, but he’s not looking at her, his focus a thousand miles away, a thousand leagues below. “It’s better for me. Feeling what I can do with my own two hands. It takes force to wield a weapon. I have to—” the half-orc holds it above his head with both hands as though he were to plunge it into her before he lowers it, “really drive it home. Spells are sort of weird sometimes. Good in a pinch, but a little too easy.”
Nott nods slowly.
