The initial letter King Grian had sent, did little more then alert Scar to the presence of a marriage contract signed by their parents when he was a mere child. When Scar had searched their library archives, to see if they had record of the contracts existence, one he'd never seen or heard about before, he'd found his parents copy-
Clipped together with a cancellation of the contract.
Still, Scar sent back a letter to the King, agreeing to marry him.

When Scar agrees to marry King Grian in order to save his failing country, he never would have expected to find so much companionship and love from the people he becomes surrounded by. But, things become far more complicated for him and Grian when remnants of the watchers, the faction Grian overthrew to become King, begin to cause trouble, preparing for something bigger. It doesn't help that, as Scar navigates this, it becomes clear that he isn't the only one with secrets.
