Summary
Remus watched one of his friends die before him and the other get gravely injured, and he is trying to recover from the guilt of not being able to help either of them. Tonks, meanwhile, is spiraling after her injury, still working as an auror despite the Ministry coming to a crash with her in it.
Both just wish their lives were a little bit more bearable. Fortunately, Remus doesn't have anywhere else to go between Order missions and Tonks needs some help while recovering. The two are driven together in a time of crisis that leads them to falling head over heels for one another.
(Not exactly canon-divergent, but I really love expanding on the characters and the world, so I've taken a ton of liberties with the details... but I'm keeping it as closely and accurately to the little information that I do have). A slow-burn timeline from summer 1996 through mid 1997)
TWs: Drug usage is minor medicinal usage, but I tagged it anyways to be safe. The suicidal thoughts are not explicit and are without ideation. Self-harm is primarily risky behavior related to werewolf transformation and scratching at skin. There is cursing and mature sex/violence.
