A bit like thumbing through an artist's working sketchbook, here you'll find scenes, portraits, character studies, and silly moments in short, mostly less than a thousand word increments. Summary
Ikithon's trial reopens some old wounds, and the walls Astrid has put around her heart are barely holding together. Lucky for her, Caleb isn't about to let her keep trying to deal with everything alone.
In which Caleb offers comfort and his tower, and Astrid has a good cry and gets some closure.

Summary
Caleb and Essek have settled down post-campaign, and have adopted a handful of cats. Caleb knows that Essek isn't much of an animal person in general, so he's not particularly hurt when Essek avoids getting too involved with the animals for fear of being overwhelmed.
Or so Caleb thinks-- until he's gifted a bracelet enchanted with Speak With Animals, and Essek's secret is revealed.
