Summary
Kara turned slowly, deflating under the hard eyes of her ex-best-friend. Lena was tense and angry, her finger resting on the trigger, her other hand on a tracking device. My heat signature, Kara thought, Guess she has kryptonite bullets now.
Lena’s eyes narrowed as she reached to her belt, before tossing vibrant green cuffs in Kara’s direction. “Put those on.”
Kara lowered herself to the floor, taking the cuffs, feeling the burn in her hands. She couldn’t really fathom Lena trying to kill her. But after the disruption of Lena’s Myriad plan, and now being held at gunpoint… “Lena, what are - what are you going to do?”
“How do you know my name?” Lena growled.

Summary
Lena knew a few things about Kara Danvers.
She knew the cub reporter had a hankering for pot stickers, a habit of using odd verbal expressions, and an endless amount of faith in Lena despite the Luthor name. She knew that Kara was easily distracted by low cut blouses - a fact that Lena used to her advantage - and that her love of boybands had not faded one iota since her teenage years.
And one fine day, when Kara brought Lena a morning coffee for a quick discussion before work, Lena learned that Kara’s tan-colored pants were vaguely transparent under bright corporate light.

“And Supergirl was there, too.”
No one had known what those words meant when they appeared on a young Lena’s arm. Supergirl? Clearly a nickname of sorts - a singer, an actress? The shimmering gold words were strange and unexplainable to her family.
But like most people, she carefully hid the words away - the first words her soulmate would ever say to her were buried under long sleeves or makeup, waiting for the day they became relevant.

Lena opened her eyes. Where am I?
Darkness. She lay on the ground in a state of shock, staring up into deep abyss. She stilled to listen to her surroundings, trying to figure out if anyone - or anything - was nearby. Am I in a cave?, she wondered. Buried alive? What is this place?
Her only answer was the sound of rushing water.

“Nervous, Lena?”
It was clear that the blonde was amused - but her eyes weren’t mocking. If anything, they seemed quite understanding, and Lena tried to shake off some of the tension that she was feeling.
Young doesn’t mean incompetent, Lena thought to herself, thinking of the conversation Kara had with the student earlier. She literally flies all the time… “Yeah,” Lena confessed. “Not a fan of flying. I’ve never been in one of these small planes.”
Kara picked up the keys that Winn had placed on the counter, along with her bag and the second headset.
“I’ll take good care of you,” Kara said.

Summary
She stumbled down the dark alleyway, bleeding out all the gold and faith she had within her.
He had been terrified, shaking and sobbing in the face of her glinting ethereal weapon. Even after all these years, she had never exorcised a child before. Children did not go to hell - or so she thought. What crime could this child have committed?
For a moment, she wondered why Lute hadn’t killed her - why the lieutenant had merely weakened her, robbed her of her eye and her halo instead of her life. But Vaggie quickly realized her answer. She was in Hell, left to the wolves of true evil, the dwelling of Lucifer himself and all his sworn disciples.
“Are you okay?” a voice said.
Vaggie glanced up with her remaining eye, taking in the oddly friendly sound of the woman in front of her. The blonde knelt down, crooning worriedly, “Let me get you bandaged up.”

Summary
Kara turned, her brow crinkling as she noticed a well-dressed woman heading her way. In a world of dirt and mud, the woman’s high-end loafers made little sense. “Can I help you?” Kara asked.
“I’m hoping you can,” she said, holding out her hand. “My name is Lena Luthor.”
“Luthor,” Kara said, her eyebrows raising as she took Lena’s hand. I didn’t know Lex’s sister was so pretty, she thought, fighting the odd skip of her heartbeat.
“I guess you’ve paid attention to the news,” Lena said. “I would like to hire you.”
“To do what?” Kara asked.
“To be my jockey. I have a horse, and I want to win the Kentucky Derby.”
“The Derby?” Kara sputtered. “You know I’m just a claims jockey, right?”
“I do,” Lena said. “And, frankly, I barely know what that means. But I do understand statistics.”
“... Statistics.”

“Of course I do,” Lex said, a characteristic smirk on his lips. “I got a hold of the Book of Destiny. And now I have everything I’ve ever wanted.”
Lena stilled, glancing at her brother. She supposed it was true, from what she had seen in the brief news clippings - he was loved by the world, at the helm of LuthorCorp again, even taken over the DEO as a subsidiary.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Lex said, rising from his seat. “But I promise, I have no reason to lead your kryptonian astray.”
Does it count as a veiled threat if it’s obvious?, Lena thought. But in that line was an implication far more frightening than Lex’s plan to kill Kara - the kryptonian was more vulnerable than Lena realized. “She doesn’t have her memories,” Lena said.

Time went on, and she and Alex started having another conversation. “I still want to be a mom,” Alex said one day, “Sometimes I wonder if I’m holding off until it’s too late.”
Kelly squeezed at Alex’s arm. “I’m game if you are.”
Alex’s smile was still reluctant with worry. “This- Kelly, I feel like this is forever. But I don’t want to change our dynamic and ruin things.”
Kelly grabbed her hand, her response emphatic. “This isn’t going to ruin things. I want to be a mom too. Plus, this was one of the first things I knew about you,” she grinned.
Alex smiled back. “I’ll contact the adoption agency again.”

Summary
But then Caitlyn was next to her - smirking and cocky, catching Vi before she could sink fully into the misery of having lost everyone again. Her sister was gone, and no doubt the leader of Piltover would have no kindness for Vi’s betrayal. And yet the lilt in Caitlyn’s voice suggested something different. “I’m sorry to say, you’ve become a bit predictable.”
The truth snapped into her.
Vi was hardly thinking when she pulled Cait in for a kiss, rough and forceful as their lips met. She could feel the hammer of her heartbeat as Cait pulled her in - suddenly frazzled and desperate in her attempt to return the kiss. It put a roar in Vi’s chest, to catch Cait so off guard, to feel her begin to succumb to the unexpected magnetic force between them. Limerence and lust, as Vi kissed along her neck, tasting smooth skin with the drumming of the vein underneath-

She was being followed.
It wasn't until after she had taken eight more lives - a veritable feast for her soul - that she realized the wake of silence that had surrounded her in that stretch of woods. The birds in the path behind her had ceased to sing, the squirrels and lizards ceasing to rustle. And then she saw the flash of that damn cloak.
She turned, her eyes landing on a smirking brunette. “Who the hell are you?” she startled.

Summary
Stopping a computer was simple, really. The lab had a physical override, cutting off all sources of power - including LuthorCorp’s power generators. But the lab would explode. A kryptonite bomb, from the sound of it, that even Supergirl wouldn’t be able to survive.
With a trembling hand, Lena pulled her phone out of her pocket, selecting a name she hadn’t called in months. After a moment, a tentative voice answered. “Hello?”
“Kara,” Lena said, her voice shaking. “I need you to evacuate LuthorCorp.”
“What’s going on, Lena?”
“Please,” Lena said. “You have ten minutes to get everyone outside. And don’t go to the basement lab.”
“Lena-”

Summary
Kara opened her arms, allowing Lena to scoot into them, the two forgoing any sense of separation as they let the quiet of night envelop them. “They never found her Claddagh ring,” Lena whispered.
Kara tilted her head down, nuzzling into Lena’s hair. “Your mother had a Claddagh ring?” Kara asked.
She knew of the tradition - an Irish ring, with three symbols. The band had two hands to symbolize friendship, holding a heart to symbolize love, topped with a crown to symbolize loyalty. The rings tended to be simple, but warm, indicating engagement and marriage depending on how it was worn.
“It was given to her by her grandmother,” Lena murmured tiredly. “She lost it when we were playing in the water. Not long before…”

“There’s something I want to try,” Kara finally said.
Lena tilted her head up, a small twinkle in her eye. “Oh?”
Kara bit shyly at her lip, glancing back down at the mug cupped in her hands. Should I ask?, Kara thought. Is this even a good idea…
A warm hand covered her own, dragging her from her doubts. “Hey,” Lena said reassuringly, “Whatever it is, it’s okay, Kara.”
Kara took a slow breath. “I want to go in the ropes,” she murmured. “Under a red sun lamp.”

Summary
Andrea stared at the coin in her hand, trying to fight back the overwhelming nausea that kept calling for her to throw up a third time that night. Russell was… kind. Sweet. He didn’t deserve to be put at risk just for dating someone like her.
A murderer.
Andrea brushed back her hair, trying to push the thoughts from her mind. She could still hear it, the sharp pop of the governor’s neck as she twisted it. She could feel his last breath as it exited his body. Tom Harper was dead, and his blood was on her hands.
After years of believing that she had left Leviathan behind… they had called upon her. And now she knew that she would never escape. Perhaps they would not summon her often, but she knew she would never know peace again.
Breaking up with Russell was the easy part. Living with herself… was another thing entirely.

Lex Luthor, On Cusp Of Nobel Prize, Dies At 44
Kara swallowed nervously as she reread the paper’s headline, glancing up at the chaos ensuing around Catco. The headline was the least of her worries - more of a relief than anything, if she were honest - but the new world was bizarre.
Lex was going to receive the Nobel?, Kara thought, glancing to her right as Nia blew her nose into a tissue, trying to clear the tears streaming down her eyes. What on Earth is going on with everyone?
