Jack didn't know what his purpose was if children hardly believed in him. His name was a mere mention, and he wasn't an actual myth widely believed by children like Santa Claus, or the tooth fairy. This was his final frustration he shared with the moon on his world before being transferred to another with nothing but his name, his staff, and a mission from the moon to help save the Dragons.
Oh, and a dragon companion of his own.
Or in other words: Jack finds out that he's a Guardian for a lot more than just the children.

With the help of his partner Boris, he finally finds a lead on his missing brother. But what he finds is the very creature he hunts wearing his brother’s cup. Mugman doesn’t know what’s worse: That his brother is now a vampire or that he seems… happier as one? He wants to take him home but looking at Cuphead with the other vampire. He begins to wonder, does he even want to go home?
