/Another take on The Shinigami Side Effect/
She used the Death Reaper Seal and died. Unbeknownst to her, Uchiha Itachi puts an end to his rest in the Pure Land and catches the Shinigami's eye and hijacked a ride straight to his five-year-old body, remembering breaking the Edo Tensei. Now they are both in Konoha before the Kyuubi attack without a clue on how they got here. The only thing they can do now, is keep on living in this new Konoha, and maybe, maybe...figure their past relationship and mistakes out.

I used the Shiki Fuujin at age thirty-eight. I lived nor a good or long life. I lived my life where stability was absent most of the time. When I got it, I used a forbidden jutsu.
I didn't die.
I found myself in front of Shisui, freshly out of the Bloody Mist.
As if seeing people I lost long ago, including my dead lover and children's father, was not traumatizing enough, now it seemed like I could no longer avoid the kunoichi life. Of course, I'd do my best to kill Itachi's martyrdom before it became unbearable. He deserved a long, happy life, even if this time, it wasn't with me.
Shisui deserved a life too.
Sasuke and Naruto deserved to grow up with their families.
