“You are inviting me to your home?” I recoiled in surprise, sniffing as my tears dried.

Summary
Tavaria is the youngest in a family of traveling tiefling bards. On her family's last night in Elturel after six months, Tav, then-thirteen, sees the opportunity to help the closest thing she's found to friends - and maybe even finally let their cute wizard brother know she's been nursing a crush on him. She even makes a promise - and request - she'll see them all again one day. Little does she know how much that promise will be tested against the universe itself.

Tavaria - a champion of considerable talent - must fight. Fight to save the Elturel refugee tieflings, especially the powerful junior wizard Rolan and his siblings. Fight to stop the the Absolute from conquering all. Eventually, fighting an old love with whom she once harboured a deadly secret. And above all else, fighting the murderous urges clawing away at her sanity in order to keep all those whom she loves and holds dear alive against the murderous machinations of Bhaal.
The fight for Tavaria's soul and the fate of Faerûn is on. Can her love for a grumpy wizard top the machinations of the gods and men? Or in fighting to save them will she inadvertently damn them all to death - or worse still to subjugation of the chosen of Bhaal and Bane.
(A sequel to 'The Parasite Within' - but starts anew just before game events so you don't need to have read the preceding fics to follow this one.)
