“Do you wanna talk about something?” Angel asked. Husk had listened to him complain about so many things before; the least he could do was let him talk to him just like he did practically every other day.
Husk only gave a small grunt in response. He didn’t say anything else, and Angel didn’t want to push him to say anything he wasn’t comfortable sharing. Angel just let him lay there and kept running his fingers through his fur.

Valentino’s hand grabbed Angel by the jaw, dragging him down to look Val in the eye, an inch away from his face.

Spit flew from Valentio’s mouth as he yelled those words, Angel’s face moved for emphasis every time.
“N-n-no no-not at all Val. I-I would neva doubt you.”
Valentino brought Angel’s face even closer to his, making Angel’s feet unsteady beneath him.
“Get the fuck out of my face. You’ve made me sick to look at you.”

The words brought him back to earth. He blanked in disbelief, brain resetting. “What?” He could barely feel the syllable leave his tongue.
“You’re not a bad boy, you’re just a bad person.” Her voice sailed on the words, cementing them as if they were scripture.
The air flew out of Ethan’s lungs.

You’re just a bad person. The words stuck to his brain like a bad stain.
Ethan bawled his hands into fist. His vision blurred.
He thought he’d heard it all, having endured every insult in the book for as long as he could remember. But this was so matter of fact, and so blunt, from a person he truly admired. A person he truly cared about. And hell, it hurt. Fuck. It hurt like hell.
The negative voices in his head celebrated at the addition of a new member. He never thought Devi would join the likes of his parents, and his teachers, and everyone else who thought he was nothing but a nuisance.
