It was rare to have all members of SEES present in the dorm on a normal day. But it was a Saturday evening and there was a steady downpour going on, trapping everyone inside, so this would count as a pretty abnormal day. Not an unwelcoming one, though, Minato thought to himself as he stared at the tall windows by the door.

He wished he could say that this wasn’t about Evan. That this was just some seasonal depression that he could handle and get over given the time, and that things would be better after a few movie marathons under a comfy blanket or listening to some feel-good music that he could sing aloud to and forget about everything for a bit.
But… this wasn’t that at all. He wasn’t really sure what it was, just that it revolved around Evan. Which was just perfect, if he could say so himself.

“R-Rin—!” Maki protests weakly, clutching at her friend’s sleeve as if to keep her from slipping down or to pull her closer. Or both.
Comfortable and sated, Rin stuffs her hands inside Maki’s coat and gives her a bright smile. “You’re like a freshly-baked gingerbread house, nya~”

You wanted to scream. To stomp her foot and cover her ears and just let out the bubbling fury in her chest; all the guilt and self-loathing and frustration at not being here on time, because it should’ve been her. And then there was the part of her that wanted to fall to her knees and cry, clenching the sand tightly between her fingers. God, she was an idiot. She had been the first one to notice Chika’s downward spiral and yet she had done nothing. So why should it be a surprise to see that her best friend had turned to someone else for help instead?
