Summary
No matter how hard Sam tries, in the end he always ends up running into trouble.
This time he's forced to work with Higgs, who, after being gone for 5 years, has recently re-appeared in Sam's life. They team up for a trip to Lake Knot city that turns out much more dangerous than they both anticipated.
Not only does Sam have to worry about BTs and MULEs, but he also has to decide whether or not Higgs is trustworthy... or if this new friendship is just another game for him.
This is a sequel for my series "Bridges", which consists of 3 seperate works. I recomment reading that one first, but it's not a must.

Sam didn’t need to know who his cargo was, he didn’t need to know what the specifics were of their past, or what would happen to them once they were delivered. The less Sam knew the better. It would be a whole lot easier for both of them if he kept his distance, and just did his job. Right?

It should have been like any other job. Collect the cargo, deliver it in one piece, and move on. Sam didn't like to get attached, and he certainly avoided making connections whenever possible. However, this delivery would prove to go a lot different from what he had planned.

(This story has been sitting in my drive for a while, and I haven't been able to continue. Unfortunately, it will remain unfinished for now but I was constantly revisiting it, rereading it myself in the absence of young daryl fics out here, and decided that the niche is so small that even an unfinished fic could help just a little... Hopefully, I'll continue this someday. Hope y'all enjoy)

Summary
Glenn really thought the worst days of his life were behind him. Sure, working pizza delivery was a dull and unfulfilling job, but it was a stable form of income that hid how, exactly, he was really paying off his student debt. So long as he was careful about it, no one would be any the wiser.
The last thing he needed was to get nailed for grand theft auto. He could scrape by without stealing cars or car parts anymore, and really, that was all he was trying to do. Survive. Atlanta wasn’t a cheap city, and going back to Michigan… It wasn’t an option.
He was a horrible liar, and if his parents found out what he’d been up to, then they’d throw him out on his ass faster than he could blink. Honestly, it was a good thing he was so fast. If the cops had ever caught up to him, then he would’ve gotten himself into even worse trouble than he was already in.
Glenn thought the worst days of his life were well behind him, and then the dead started walking.

“Maggie got you on baby duty?” A voice interrupted his thoughts, and Daryl looked over to see Alden crouched on the ground, measuring up one of the logs to be cut.
“Ain’t a duty,” Daryl refuted, though a part of him felt like it was. He should have been a parent, but he wasn’t, really, and he was here out of duty for the pain he’d wrought. “Not a babysitter,” he amended, which felt more honest.
“Oh,” Alden looked taken aback for a moment before seeming to shake it off. “Right. I’m sorry. I know you and Maggie are… close. I think it’s good, you know? Finding love again after loss. She’s moving on.”
“Ain’t nobody’s movin’ on from -” Daryl hated the way his voice broke before he could even say Glenn’s name. Like that single word was too much for his body to bear. Like it had to be kept inside of him, Glenn’s name, the last part of the man he’d loved, still held within him. Not a secret, not quite a burden. But something heavy with heartbreak and treasured all the same.
“No, you’re right. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have assumed.” Alden was looking up at him, something sad and worried on his face, like Daryl might drag him through the dirt over it.
