Sometimes, denial is the only way people can cope with change. Ignore all the signs that something may be not quite right in the hopes that it will disappear on it's own and cease to be a nuisance. Unfortunately, this isn't always feasible. Life can be a cruel mistress if it sees fit. Even to those who don't seem like they deserve such a fate.
The final straw would be a day none of them will forget. It was the type that etched its mark in your skull. Something that is lasting and would haunt their every waking moment and dreams. Nothing would ever be the same.

It’s minutes before their opening time when the first customer steps in.
They're still standing by the door, though Tanjirou is too busy fetching his apron from under the counter and throwing it on haphazardly to take a good look at them. He breathes in deep after it’s properly tied behind his back, pauses when he catches the scent of cologne laced with the smell of fresh bread permeating the air, and lets it sit in his lungs as he finally looks up.
Just past the threshold is possibly the most beautiful man Tanjirou has ever seen in his life.
