Rishe opened her eyes to a vibrant, unfamiliar field under a sky lit in brilliant sweeps of orange and pink. Wildflowers brushed her bare ankles as the breeze stirred her coral hair. Before she could take in any more of the landscape, the atmosphere shifted sharply.
She spun, bracing herself—and froze.

It had taken Damian two months to put an end to Deathstroke and his traitorous men. The portrait of his sword, buried deep inside Wilson’s heart, hung in Nanda Parbat. Unworthy blood had stained the ground of his ancestors and it was his task to cleanse it. To restore honor and balance back to the Order of Shadows and to the world itself.
Now, years later his informant has told him the Miraculous have been activated.
She was not trained, she couldn’t even fall correctly, but she was smart, agile, a born tactician. If nothing else, Damian knew that he needed to follow her. She would be an invaluable asset to him and the League itself.

“Normally, I would agree with you,” Arnold shrugged, no longer hiding the amusement in his tone.
It truly was too late, Arnold thought. Now he could pick up the faintest vibrations of her footsteps. She moved like she was dancing.
“The guards will hurt her on my command. I promise you that.”
That was true, but his brother had no guts to give that command, Arnold knew. He couldn’t help but smile then, a cold, pitying thing. “My foolish brother. You’ve already lost, Theodore.”
Theodore stared, visibly stunned. Rishe seemed to clear a great amount of distance all in one go.
“The second you thought you’d captured her, you lost,” Arnold explained. He glanced towards the door as she blitzed towards them. “See? She’s decided to join us.”
The door, its hinges already weakened by time, slammed open. Rishe set down her foot and shook out the torn skirts of her dress with her free hand. The other flipped a dagger with expert ease: another type of weapon she could wield, Arnold noted.
“Good evening, Prince Theodore,” Rishe called out with a beaming smile. “I’m here to settle this.”
“No,” Theodore breathed, his eyes widening in sheer disbelief. “This can’t be happening.”

Rishe stared up at the star filled sky with a sense of wonder. The world was so cast and she wanted to see every inch of it.
“Rishe,” Arnold called gently from behind.
“Just a few more moments, the shower should be passing in only a few minutes.”
“!” The sudden feeling of a new weight settling atop her shoulders, shocked her out of her revelry for a moment. When she looked down to see what it was, she was surprised to see Arnold’s military jacket, still enveloped with his warmth, hanging off her slender frame.
When she looked up, she met the gentle eyes of her husband staring down at her. “It’s getting cold, and you were shivering.”
Rishe managed to gather herself together pulling away from him just enough that she could peer up at him. She was surprised to see him staring down at her, a warm smile shown on his lips. But, as usual, it was his eyes that caught her attention. The dark, endless depths of blue that seemed to have caught the falling stars and trapped them in his stormy depths. They were like that of a frozen sea in a distant land, and yet held the warmth of a thousand suns. For a moment, she wondered how someone as perfect as he could be real.

Arnold’s gaze fell, landing on the ring he had gifted her. Rishe had worn it every day without fail after her fervent demand that he place it on her. Now, she requested him to make her fantasy to become a reality, and hadn’t he promised her that’d fulfill her every one?
“Then don’t worry. If that’s what you want, I’ll make it happen.”
Arnold rose from her bed, strapping his sword back onto his belt before shrugging on his jacket. Turning to her one last time he noticed the way her eyes followed him, her fists anxiously clenched around the hem of her dress. “You keep resting a little longer.” With those parting words, which he knew would be immediately disregarded, Arnold walked out of her room and into the halls of the Grand Basilica.
It was time for him to fulfill Rishe’s request.

Arnold paused outside his room for a moment, turning his head to stare at the door that neighbored his. It was late, but that didn’t mean she was actually asleep. Perhaps he should check on her.
Hand slipping off the handle of the brass knob, Arnold took careful strides through the hall, careful to not make too much noise in case Rishe was truly asleep. When he stood just outside her room, Arnold placed his ear against the smooth mahogany, listening for the sound of a quill against parchment or the soft wisp of the turning of another page from the books she loves so much. But there was nothing. And when he looked down at the threshold, not even a flicker of candle light peaked through.
Perhaps she truly is asleep then, Arnold mused to himself with an amused huff. The memory of when they first met played in his mind, when she had so boldly declared that she would be as lazy and useless as possible. Even then he’d known her words to be a lie, he just hadn’t known how bold of one it truly was.
Satisfied with his findings Arnold was about to turn away when a loud scream rang out, sounding clear as war bells despite the door standing between them.

Rishe stared at her bare stomach through the mirror before her, wondering why her stomach felt as if it were tearing itself in two. It burned as if a thousand fire ants thought to chew their way through her body and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
Five years ago on this very day, Rishe had died by a sword stabbing straight through her abdomen, where she was left to bleed out through the panicked streets. She had certainly felt pains and aches before, most of which she associated with that time of the month, but this was different.
She couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t stop the pain no matter what herbal remedy she took, and when she looked at herself in the mirror she didn’t understand why her stomach remained unmarked when it burned so dearly. She felt as if she were dying once more, that she was about to bleed out all over again. But she wasn’t dying. Nothing had struck her. She was still very much alive despite the horrors of what happened before.

Rishe let out a huff, turning to look at her wardrobe only to notice that her husband’s was still open. Curiosity got the better of her as she carefully, so as to not drop water on the carpet, made her way towards Arnold’s closet.
Much of what he owned was fairly rote. Formal wear and military dress took up two-thirds of the space, with the rest being devoted to loose shirts and pants. Being that Arnold appeared rather slender in his usual attire, Rishe never thought too much about the difference between their builds: now, though, it became more apparent the longer she looked.
Reaching out to tug at the sleeve of one of the loose shirts Arnold preferred, she couldn’t help but admire the softness of the fabric. Perhaps she could ask where the material was made so she could make her own dresses with it? An idea formed in her mind, one that made her cheeks flush in embarrassment at the mere thought.
