Several months after an encounter with the wizard Galiva, a runaway noblewoman shows up at the gates of The Crux to find that Galiva is not there. No, she left less than a week ago for a long term assignment. Nellie consequently loses her nerve, and ends up walking away. Thankfully, she’s a skilled seamstress and able to get a job in town working for Varice.
Only, a wizard named Olbric starts showing up to help out at the shop, and it’s only a matter of time before Nellie’s magical secret is revealed. But she’s been making friends all summer long, and the idea of magical study is a lot less intimidating by Harvest.
Of course, her budding friendship with Thermilious Maxwell is proving to be the start of her newest secret, especially once she’s officially an adept wizard. After all, who would expect the King and a Seamstress to have met at all, much less become good friends who happen to regularly fuck? It's certainly something to keep on the downlow, if they want to prevent it from becoming everyone else's business!

Six years after Arlon was first brought to The Crux, Fawn asked if he’d show a new adept around. He’s a little confused as to why him, but quickly realizes it was a good idea for him to be the one helping Omari bint Sameer get her bearings. He just didn’t expect to become quite so attached, not that he regrets it.
Omari arrived at The Crux little more than a shell of who she used to be. She’d come a long way from a place that hadn’t been home in a very long time. The Crux is safer for her, but she had to lose everything in the process to obtain that safety. She can’t ever go back to Cairish, but perhaps The Crux can become a real home the way it has for so many others—like Arlon, her first friend in Straetham. The first man Omari ever trusted.
There’s something truly profound about feeling safe enough to start healing.

Aine is a friend he’ll actually be able to keep—the fae-woman is a few decades older than him, after all.
But their usual schedule gets majorly screwed with after Dream of the Endless is freed. Aine doesn’t trust the Endless, or really any supernatural entities. But with her being potentially the only person who could put Morpheus’ daughter back together, she’s involved whether or not she wants to be. At least Hob is there to support her every step of the way as she’s dragged into the magical shit storm that is this quest.

The Story-Star is a wandering goddess of storytelling formed from stardust by the dreams of children, and the Fates inform Morpheus that the girl would technically be his responsibility. He can either care for her or (having no followers left in The Waking to sustain her) The Story-Star will fade into oblivion as forgotten deity. The King of Dreams and Nightmares certainly wasn't going to tell the Fates no.

One can only do so much theoretical research before they're sick of it, even as much as Vega loves learning.
She's on the verge of packing up and continuing to travel the continent with her parents when an envoy from The Crux shows up escorting a shipment of magiline. Vega gets assigned to show a fellow nonbloodline wizard named Dominai around, she finds that it's not quite so bad, once there's people not just willing but wanting to cast with her. And when she transfers to The Crux, she finds that her previously boring routine gets a whole lot spicer—particularly where it concerns a devastatingly beautiful Maeve named Cancassi.
